Love Notes from The Pastor 04/22/2012

"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together..."

--Ephesians 4:15-16

Dear Allen Temple Family and Friends,

We are blessed to have members of our Church family who are working tirelessly to educate, empower and inspire our young people. On this coming Saturday, April 28 at 10am in the Family Life Center Auditorium, Allen Temple will partner with our own Dr. Raye Mitchell, Harvard Law School graduate and founder of G.U.R.L.S. Rock, for G.U.R.L.S. Rule The World, a program that will prepare girls 12-18 to become global leaders by actually participating in a global journey of change and leadership. This landmark program of free mentoring and education for our girls is free to the community.

Love Note From The Pastor 04/8/2012

"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together..."

--Ephesians 4:15-16

Dear Allen Temple Family and Friends,

“Resurrection” is a beautiful word, an all encompassing power; a liberating, shackle-breaking, transforming reality. Resurrection defeated the last enemy, took the sting out of death, and snatched victory from the grave. Resurrection redeems us and redirects our destinies. Resurrection power is ongoing and overflowing; it encourages us to hold on in hope, without regard to circumstances. Dr. Howard Thurman, the late great African American theologian reflected on the persevering power of resurrection:

Dear Allen Temple Family and Friends,

My wife Elaine and I are away for a few days of retreat with my sister Shari and her husband, the Reverend Paul Rigmaiden. We hope to return mid week (God willing) to be a part of the Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Resurrection Sunday services.

Dear Allen Temple Family and Friends,

In doing my devotions preparing for this fifth Sunday of Lent, I was drawn to and blessed by some probing questions for reflection provided online by Calvary Lutheran Church of Solana Beach, CA. Please take some quiet time to engage the following questions posed by that congregation for this Sunday's Lenten reflections*:
