J_Alfred_and_Elaine_Smith_2010A"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together..."

--Ephesians 4:15-16

Dear Allen Temple Family and Friends,

We are so humbled to be serving the youth of Allen Temple and the greater community.  We see this as a gift from God and will treat it as such.  In a world filled with good and evil, we feel it is necessary to teach our youth the difference between good and evil by stressing how important it is to be joyful.  Joyful people seldom do evil.

As the psalmist David said in Psalm 126:3, “The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.”  We want our young people to recognize what God has done for them and to be grateful for that.  Out of that gratefulness pours happiness and joy.

As we take the month of February to reflect on the contributions made by African Americans, we hope that one day people will recognize our youth as a part of history.  More importantly we hope that they will learn how they can be a contribution to society through their God given gifts and talents.

We are excited about what 2012 holds for the youth ministry.  Although we have planned numerous events, we understand that it is not about the event, but the process.  Part of the process is connecting with every young person.  We encourage you that if you are connected to a young person that is not currently involved in youth ministry, get them connected.  This is important because youth ministry is changing the lives of young people and preparing them for their lives outside the four walls of Allen Temple.

On this Boy Scout Sunday, the Youth Ministry celebrates Allen Temple’s Cub and Boy Scout troops for their steadfast achievements in building up our boys.

We trust God and HIS greatness, and hope that HIS greatness is evident through youth ministry.  If you want your young person to experience HIS joy and greatness through Youth Ministry, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
